September Charity Contribution

This month’s charity has been chosen by Dawn one of our Sales Engineers who has nominated the National Deaf Children’s Society.

My reasons for choosing this charity is that they offer advice and support to parents, carers and deaf children.

This is close to my heart as my Son was diagnosed with a severe hearing impairment when he was 18 months old.

My Son was lucky to have been supported by excellent hearing services and teachers of the deaf provided by our Local Authority throughout his pre-schooling and throughout his primary and secondary education.

Sadly, these services are now underfunded resulting in a decline in numbers of teachers of the deaf; whilst the number of newly diagnosed hearing-impaired babies and children has risen by 35% in the last 7 years.

The support offered by The National Deaf Children’s Society is now more important than ever to ensure that children with hearing problems are given the same opportunities to learn & communicate as their hearing peers.
