September Charity Contribution

This month Stuart, our Managing Director, has chosen Shropshire Staffordshire Cheshire Blood Bikes to donate to.

These are one of 36 groups of volunteers around the UK who offer their services free of charge 24/7 in support of the NHS and other Trusts, riding in all weathers and conditions.

They deliver tens of thousands of litres of blood, donated mothers milk, x-rays and other samples in emergency and travelled over 1.5million miles in the year with hundreds of thousands of response call outs.

It is estimated one group alone saves the NHS over £5.5m in costs that would otherwise need to be spent on getting these emergency deliveries done by commercial means.  An impressive feat for a dedicated group of volunteer motorcyclists that have the entire fleet of motorcycles, kit, fuel, insurance etc all paid by public donation to the charity. No wonder they have won so many Queens awards for voluntary service.

As a blood donor myself and passionate motorcyclist I was impressed and proud to be notified that my last blood donation in June had been rushed by motorcycle to Nottingham hospital to save somebody’s life.

Consequently, I am delighted to help such a great cause. Keep up the good work!
